Project Salt Embarks on Trip with Seattle Band Publish The Quest (August 2010)

Project Salt is embarking on what promises to be another fascinating trip to Cape Verde--this time with Seattle band Publish The Quest. They'll be working together to collect instruments for donation to the music school; conduct workshops with local children; collaborate with local musicians; perform at the Festival Santa Maria, an international music festival; and work on a photography book to raise funds for the school. Palang Thai Conducts Study Tour in Thailand (March 2010)

Palang Thai helped design, coordinate, and lead a study tour that brought high-level decision-makers from Tanzania to Thailand for a week-long exchange tour on regulations and program implementation of the Thai Very Small Power Producers (VSPP) program. The VSPP program in Thailand allows privately owned renewable energy and clean cogeneration to connect to the national grid or mini-grids and profitably sell electricity. Similar regulations in Tanzania were passed in 2009. Chris Greacen from Palang Thai, who helped design and lead the tour, also helped the governments of both countries to draft the regulations.

   

Palang Thai Completes Pico-Hydro Project (February 2010)

Palang Thai recently completed a community pico-hydro project on the Burma-Thailand border. The project was a combined effort that involved students from the Engineering Studies program at Mae La refugee camp, American students from the Institute for Village Studies, the BGET team, and local village residents. The project took just over a week, and once complete, the lights were in on in the village school, temple, church, and teacher's dorm. Click here to see the photo story.

 

A W.I.S.H. Announces Newest Project (March 2010)

A W.I.S.H. is pleased to announce the approval of our newest project, RISE-UP From Poverty. Based in North America, the project plans to partner with foundations, other non-profits, service clubs, global corporations, multilateral organizations, educational institutions, social business institutions, and government’s agencies to empower vulnerable youth globally. They will do so by helping to provide access to microcredit, quality technical assistance in microenterprise, and social business initiatives.
