Sustainable Connections

Past Project of A W.I.S.H.

Project Summary

Sustainable Connections (www.Sconnect.org) is a membership network of community-focused Northwest Washington local businesses, farms, organizations and citizens, networking together to increase local prosperity while strengthening community and maintaining a healthy environment.

Sustainable Connections is committed to increasing public understanding of the nature and requirements of a living economy through educational events and 'living it into being' with their own business practices. Sustainable Connections is affiliated with the national Business Alliance for Local Living Economies (www.livingeconomies.org).

A local living economy reflects the same dynamics that we observe in robust, resilient and stable eco-systems in nature. It begins with sustainable business practices that address waste, energy efficiency, and resource conservation, but also emphasizes economic and cultural diversity, information sharing, and commitment to local sourcing and purchasing. A local living economy champions profitable small to medium-sized privately held businesses working cooperatively to serve the local community. Sustainable Connections members are committed to building a local living economy that sustains and improves the quality of life for everyone in Northwest Washington.
