Project purpose and goals:

Provide access to clean, convenient, affordable, and reliable motor vehicle transportation to Member Owners;


Educate the public, increase awareness, and advocate the use of alternative and public transportation and reduce personal vehicle ownership;


Promote civic responsibility with regard to transportation choices; and,


Propose new policies and changes to existing policies that concern alternative and public transportation and personal vehicle ownership.

Reducing personal vehicle ownership and promoting use of public and alternative transportation has many environmental and community benefits. The most significant include decreased air pollution emissions through trip reduction and use of bio-diesel fuels, decreased international resource consumption both for vehicle manufacture and fuel consumption, reduced traffic congestion, decreased need for parking areas, and decreased non-point source water pollution from vehicle use and parking. With Community Car Share of Bellingham, we can make great leaps within the Whatcom County community while setting a new precedent and example for other communities throughout North America and around the industrialized world.
